The Elubo-Takoradi Highway has recorded a fatal collision between two passenger buses at Azuletti, near Samenye, leaving 8 people dead and 21 others rescued by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
The accident occurred on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at about 7:26 p.m., when an Ivorian-registered bus travelling towards Benin crashed into the rear of a parked Burkinabè passenger bus.
According to the GNFS, the parked bus had obstructed one lane of the highway, resulting in the collision. Seven people were pronounced dead at the scene, while another died later at the hospital.
Preliminary investigations suggest that speeding may have contributed to the crash.
The injured passengers were transported to the nearest hospital for medical attention, while the bodies of the deceased were handed over to the police.
