Director of the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, Winnifred Mawudeku, has denied suggestions that her relationship with Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku influenced her appointment.
Mawudeku has served as director of the facility since Okraku assumed office as GFA president, raising questions about whether their family ties played a role in her recruitment.
However, speaking to Sporty FM, Mawudeku described Okraku as her brother but insisted that their professional backgrounds were unrelated and that he had no involvement in her appointment.
“The GFA president [Kurt Okraku] is my brother, but our paths never crossed professionally. He’s always been into football, and I’m into management. He never played any role in me getting this job,” she said.
Mawudeku maintained that her application was assessed independently of her relationship with the GFA president, adding that those involved in the recruitment process were unaware of their family connection.
She explained that she does not use Okraku’s surname, noting that her official documents and academic certificates carry the name Winnifred Mawudeku.
“Nobody even knew I was related to him when I applied for the job. I don’t even use the surname Okraku. The name on my certificates is Winnifred Mawudeku,” she added.
